Sunday, December 6th, 2009 Reception at 4:30 pm; curtain at 6:30 pm. The Ahmanson Theatre, The Los Angeles Music Center, 135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012 [map] Disney’s legendary movie “Mary Poppins” is now Disney’s legendary Broadway production “Mary Poppins.”
On December 6, 2009, The Taper Ahmanson Theater will immerse us live! — in the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious world of Mary Poppins as this spectacular Broadway production flies in to Los Angeles for the first time.
Disney’s 1964 film earned an Academy Award for Best Original Music Score. Live on stage, this same memorable music, with a few added, equally fantastic, new numbers, will move you on a whole new level. You’ll feel like you can reach out and touch Edwardian London as the classic tale unfolds right before your eyes and above your heads.
We’ll meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Pinot Grill on the Plaza immediately adjacent to the theater. There, we’ll enjoy a delicious catered reception as we mingle, catch up with old friends, make new friends, and of course talk excitedly about the show before we take in the 6:30 p.m. production.
Be sure to purchase tickets spit-spot! We have a limited number, and you definitely won’t want to miss this opportunity to see the beloved story told in a way that only live theater can tell it.
Like Mary Poppins herself, it’s “practically perfect.” Music Center parking is $9. Since the event is on Sunday, there is free parking at the meters, and it is usually possible to find parking on the surrounding streets with relative ease. $60 – includes both theater ticket and catered reception at Pinot (no host bar). Register here. Contact Lenny Kirschen at lkirschen@gmail.com or 818-884-1293. You can also post in the forum. You may need to register first.
