Join your fellow Southern California-area alumni, parents and friends at an afternoon featuring Dietrich Neumann, Royce Family Professor for the History of Modern Architecture and Urban Studies.

Professor Neumann's lecture will cover the history of architectural illumination since the introduction of electric light as a "new building material." Professor Neumann will show both historic and contemporary examples, speak about the interesting theoretical debates that accompanied this development, mention in particular the important role of the architect Raymond Hood (Brown Class of 1895) in this development, and show some images from the exhibition about the topic that Professor Neumann recently organized for the Netherlands Architecture Institute.
